UCaaS - Unified Communications as a Service

There is still a misconception that Unified Communications (UC) is a standard package of technologies. This is however not the case, with businesses wanting closer and tighter integration with their business processes and applications. This requires more than just a salesperson to deliver and someone who is going to work with a business to gain an understanding of what the strategic goals are and the existing business processes.

It’s helpful to think of UC as a range of solutions and technologies, noting that a solution provider can take a position anywhere along this continuum. The UC range can be segmented into four levels. As a general rule, a greater return on investment (ROI) can be shown in Level 2 than in Level 1, and Level 3 compared with Level 2.

  • Level 1—Personal Productivity
  • Level 2—Workgroup productivity
  • Level 3—Communications Enabled Business Processes (CEBP)
  • Level 4—Enterprise Ecosystem
